Challenge
WEAVE has a long history of providing quality residential services, crisis intervention, and advocacy to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. WEAVE sought to enhance its services with survivor-centered, trauma-informed, evidence-based case management to support survivors in moving through the stages of healing and achieving their personal goals.
Solution
CIBHS helped WEAVE implement Strengths Model case management in its emergency shelter and transitional housing programs. Implementation included developing the framework to offer SM in an effective way; training and coaching staff to build skills; adapting tools, methods, and interventions for this population; and conducting fidelity reviews to ensure progress toward high model fidelity.
Impact
SM has had a positive impact on people receiving services. Paula Del Pozo, WEAVE’s director of residential services, said, “The model helped us see the humanity of clients we serve – their potential, hopes and dreams, strengths – more than just the traumatic situation they have experienced. SM provided a structure that is measurable, efficient, and meaningful to see progress toward people’s goals.”
