Youth Behavioral Health

Supporting the unique needs of children and adolescents.

CIBHS supports youth behavioral health by strengthening the systems, workforce, and community partnerships that serve children, adolescents, and transition-age youth across California.

We do this by advancing several interconnected strategies:

Training and Workforce Development by delivering evidence-based and community-defined training that equips behavioral health professionals, educators, peers, and community providers with the skills to support youth mental health, substance use prevention and treatment, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive engagement—particularly for youth facing systemic barriers.

Technical Assistance & Capacity Building by Identifying critical gaps in programs and services to improve the behavioral health of individuals and communities.

Equity-Centered, Community-Driven Approaches by grounding in health equity in everything we do. CIBHS ensures that youth services reflect local culture, lived experience, and community strengths—especially for historically underserved and marginalized youth.

Focus on Prevention, Wellness & Early Support by emphasizing prevention, resilience-building, and early identification—supporting youth well-being across the full continuum of care and laying the foundation for lifelong mental health.
